Bangladesh vs South Africa | ICC T20 world cup 2022
Quinton de Kock's murderous batting had South Africa on the verge of victory against Zimbabwe. However, Temba Bavuma's team did not win due to rain. They had to lose points from the brink of victory. South Africa has no choice but to win against Bangladesh to stay in the fight to go to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan feels that this is a life-and-death match for the Proteas.
Wesley Madhevere and Milton Shumba scored 79 runs for Zimbabwe in the match which started after two and a half hours due to rain. South Africa also got off to a great start chasing the target. Tendai Chatara scored 27 runs with four fours and one six in the first over.
In the next over, the rain struck with one ball to go. After that, when the game started again, the target of the Proteas was 64 runs in 7 overs. De Kock was at his devastating best over Richard Ngaravar. He scored 40 runs in the first two overs. South Africa scored 51 runs in 3 overs before the game ended due to rain.
Just 13 runs away from victory, the match was abandoned when rain struck again. The Proteas won by losing one point. South Africa must win against Bangladesh to stay in the fight for the last four. Because of this, the Bangladesh captain thinks Babumara will be under a bit of pressure.
In the press conference, Shakib said, "It is an important match for both the teams, especially for South Africa, who were hoping for two points in the first match. For them, it is a life-death match. They will be under some pressure. We have already won and will play on a pitch that helps spinners. The ICC generally tries to create sporting wickets in World Cups where everyone benefits.
Bangladeshi people are crazy about cricket. The fans rushed to the field to support the team even if they were not in the middle of winning. Hobart against the Netherlands was no exception. With more Bangladeshis living in Sydney, Shakib hopes to get more support on the field. Also, although there are several world-class cricketers in South Africa, the captain of Bangladesh wants to give his best.
Shakib said, "They have several world-class players but we will try our best." We have had some good memories with them recently, albeit in other formats. It will definitely help us mentally. We want to enjoy the game with an open mind. As there are many Bangladeshis in Sydney, we are hopeful for the huge support.
